new campus ministry grants

The Office for Young Adult and Campus Ministries (YACM) at the Episcopal Church Center invites proposals for grants to assist in the start-up of new campus ministries or the re-start of dormant campus ministries. A total of $300,000 is available in this triennium, and grants will be awarded from that amount over a two-year period beginning in July 2010. It is expected that the diocese, parish, or campus ministry will match the amount awarded in the grant.

In-kind services (i.e., fair market value of space to be used for the campus ministry, equipment, office supplies, etc.) may be used in calculating the matching funds.

Grant proposals must show how the diocese, parish, and/or campus ministry will support the ministry at the end of the grant term. Successful grant proposals must also highlight how the ministry will be worship-centered, explore opportunities for joint ministry with the ELCA, and make use of peer ministers and other trained student leadership.  Chaplains/Campus Ministers in charge of ministries receiving grants are expected to attend any church-wide gatherings of campus ministers sponsored by YACM during the term of the grant. Chaplains/Campus Ministers of ministries receiving grants will be assigned a mentor for the duration of the grant period. The mentor will be chosen in consultation with the respective Provincial Coordinator where the ministry is located. All proposals must be approved by the bishop of the diocese in which the ministry is to be located, and each diocese which receives a grant shall appoint someone to oversee the grant and make appropriate financial reports to the Office for Young Adult and Campus Ministries at the Episcopal Church Center.
